How to make sense of this little memetic device? You all know your situation better than anyone, so the key is to look at your life, and make those clear boundaries between the aesthetic, ethical and religious, and then proceed to creatively do business with the people around you. The aesthetic is pretty easy to understand. Ethical and religious dimensions require some philosophy, but it’s all very reasonable. It has more in common with Atheism than it does with traditional religion, but when understood and applied, it is one of life’s great phenomena, particularly when taken to an extreme.
However, it is applicable in a very practical sense. When I find myself overwhelmed with anxiety about all the things I have to do to keep up with my own ideals, I make a to do list, and then analyse the list. You’ll notice some items are more aesthetic and others are more ethical. The religious comes into play when you sacrifice the aesthetic for an ethical choice. The aesthetic desires are your lambs. Some lambs must be sacrificed at the altar of your life purpose. It’s very uncomfortable, and if your ideals are grandiose, you’re in for some severe suffering. It’s all about short term pain for long term gain. Very logical.
